School Health Services

Image result for rn symbol  The school nurse is a integral member of the educational team who assist each child develop his/her potential    mentally, physically and socially. The nurse provides comprehensive health services, teaches disease prevention strategies, and promotion of healthy lifestyles. 

The role of the school nurse includes:

  • Providing chronic and emergency care for students and staff
  • Conducting state mandated health screenings
  • Administering medication and performing health assessments
  • Developing Individual Health Care Plans (IHP) for students with special health care needs
  • Interpreting immunization and health screening data
  • Provide leadership in promoting health and safety; including a healthy enviroment
  • Collaborate with other members of health and/or education team to build student and family adaptation, self management, self advocacy and learning
  • Collaborate with community agencies to assist in providing student and families to resources available to them

Monday -LC am -  MS/HS pm

Tuesday -  LC- AM - Thayer pm

Wednesday - Lincoln Central - All Day

Thursday - LC am - Thayer  pm

Friday - LC am -MS/HS pm

 Between the 7th and 8th grade many students will need Tdap booster. Reminder letters are sent at the end of the school year for this age group.  A copy of an updated immunization record needs to brought to enrollment to update your childs records. 

If you need a medical/religious excempt form, please contact the School Nurse.

When should your child stay home from school?


  • Your child has or has had a fever of 100.4 in the last 24 hours
  • Your child has a contagious illness such as strept throat, flu, chicken pox, ect.
  • Your child has red/pink eyes or drainage from the eyes
  • Your child is vomitting, has diarrhea, or is unable to manage his/her secretions
  • Your child has active head lice (in this case the child must be seen by school nurse or administration before returning to class)
  • Your child does not have proof of all required immunizations

Please notify the school nurse if your child is out of school for an extended period of time or under the care of a physician.

Written notification is required from the physician and parent/guardian when it is necessary for the student to be excluded from any activities, such as PE . Such notification should clearly detail any restrictions and identify date participation may resume.

Immunizations and physical examinations must be in compliance and up to date with state regulations.
