For the first time in 16 years, the Cherryvale Chargers are TVL champions! Congratulations to Head Coach Scott John and assistant Drew Charles for leading the chargers on to victory. Congratulations to the boys for rising to the occasion!
Congrats to our very own Melinda Gillman for being honored with the Karen Schadel Memorial Scholarship.
This Scholarship is in honor and memory of Karen Schadel, a long-time KASBO Executive Director, who passed away in 2012. The KASBO ACE opening membership social events provide up to $2,500 for the scholarship recipient to attend the ASBO International Annual Conference and Expo.
The scholarship will help pay for membership, convention registration, travel and lodging expenses. In 2026 the ASBO Annual Conference and Expo will be held at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, October 14-16, 2026.

Due to the recent unexpected rain, the baseball and softball games that were to be at HOME tonight have been moved to Humboldt. The games will still begin at 4:30 p.m.

The baseball and softball games scheduled to be in Caney today, Tuesday April 14, have been moved up to a 3:30 p.m. start time. This is due to the incoming weather threats tonight. Players will be released at 1:00 for a 1:15 dismissal.

I’m writing to share some important news from the April 8th board meeting. As you may have heard, the board voted unanimously to end Mr. Githens’s superintendent contract effective immediately.
Rest assured, the board is focused on our next steps to establish district leadership for the short and longer term. We look forward to sharing those decisions with you as they are finalized in the weeks ahead. I’m unable to share additional details about the board’s decision, due to our commitment to the privacy of employees and to following confidentiality laws. We appreciate your understanding.
Most importantly, thank you for trusting USD 447 with your student’s learning. If you have any questions or concerns about how this change affects your student, don’t hesitate to contact their teacher or principal. Our team is always here to help.

PSA - 4/8/2026 - From 8:30 am until early afternoon, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office will be in Cherryvale training at the McKinley building. There is no emergency, but there will be a large police presence at McKinley. The Sheriff's Office will have posted signs for this exercise. Again, no emergency at the McKinley building.
