Hey, I am Kandra Smith and I will be the new Assistant Principal/Activities Director for CMHS. My family and I are excited to join Charger Nation. We are coming from Oswego, where I have taught 1st, Preschool, and 3rd grade, and was the Activities Director. Prior to that, I was a Special Education Teacher with Tri-County, and I was a ropes course instructor and summer coordinator for Greenbush. My husband, Lance, and I have 4 children, Braeleigh (10th), Brianne and Brody (7th) and Brantley (2nd). When I'm not busy chasing my kids, I love a good adventure, finding new restaurants, or hunkering down at home with a good book or hosting my friends and their families. I am looking forward to this new adventure, and cannot wait to meet everyone. Go Chargers!

?? quart size- any color- $12.00- as many as needed yo make your design
1-Cheap Brush, 1-cheap roller, 1-cheap roller tray- approximately $10.00
Do not need to purchase, but will help in the process:
1- 5 gallon bucket. You will mix your gallon of paint with 1/2 gallon of water to help cover a little better
We will provide:
Masking tape
Brooms
Leaf Blower
Sidewalk Chalk- to draw design to be painted
I have noticed a lot of Tik Toks with really good ideas and tips. Do a little research before you get here.
If it rains, we will still pick spots on the designated time and date. This does not all have to be done on the 17th, it is just a time that we can all get together and make it a "class" activity.
Just a reminder, part of your SR check out at the end of school, is that your spot needs to be returned to its original black state. So probably another $48.00 for a gallon of paint. Save your roller and tray for this activity.
Call the office if you have questions. GO CHARGERS.

New Staff Spotlight Cherryvale Middle High School
Hello, my name is Karlea Clark and this is my 5th year teaching Agriculture Education and being an FFA advisor. I graduated from Fort Scott High School in 2016. In high school I was very active in 4-H showing hogs and also very active in FFA. After high school I went to Fort Scott Community College where I spent my time as an agriculture ambassador to recruit students to come to the FSCC Ag Program. I graduated FSCC with an Associates in Applied Science in 2018. I then transferred to K-State where I finished up my degree with a Bachelors of Agriculture Education in 2020. After college I taught two years out at Greensburg, Kansas and that’s where I met my husband. I then moved closer to home and taught two years at Flinthills High School. I married the love of my life Dalton, in November 2022 and we welcomed our son Ryker into this world in 2023. In our free time you might find us at a rodeo cheering on my brother who rides bareback horses or growing our show pig business. I am so excited to be closer to home and be apart of the Charger family.

Thursday was a big day for Cherryvale High School junior Morgan Lasco, who learned that one of her artistic paintings will soon adorn the walls in the office of U.S. Rep. Jacob LaTurner in Washington, D.C.
Lasco submitted her painting, which she titled “Freedom and Rebirth,” in a congressional art competition sponsored by the Congressional Institute. Each U.S. congress member is allowed to sponsor an art competition featuring high school-aged artisans from their home districts. LaTurner picked four exhibits to be placed in his office as a public display of Kansas-grown talent. Lasco’s painting won first place in the Creativity division in LaTurner’s 2nd Congressional District of Kansas.
Posing are (left to right) Grace Greene, who is the director of district operations for Congressman LaTurner, Morgan Lasco and CHS art instructor Casey Lickteig.

They picked up sticks, trash, and other debris. Members also did a huge overhaul at the depot fountain area that included: pulling weeds, weed eating, edging sidewalks, power washing away the dirt and grime, and worked hard to unearth the brick sidewalk that had been taken over by weeds and grass. This is just Phase 1 of their project. The middle school KAY Club will complete Phase 2 next Friday.
