Meet the Teacher Night.

We would like to officially welcome Mrs. O'Brien to Thayer Schools! I am so excited to join the Thayer education team as the Preschool Teacher. It is a wonderful opportunity to help start such an important program for your community. I have been in the education profession for over 25 years and have experience with Head Start, kindergarten, and preschool. It is so important to get students on a solid foundation in their education journey. All students should have the opportunity to learn and experience life. I live in rural Cherryvale and am married to Ron O'Brien. We have three adult boys who are alumni of 447's Charger Nation. We enjoy our seven grandchildren and the activities in the farming industry. My hobbies include cooking and traveling with our family, sewing, and crocheting. I am looking forward to meeting my students and others in this nice small community and continue my work in the USD 447 district. Go Flyers!

Each year in May we honor nurses everywhere for their contributions to their patients and the profession. USD 447 is blessed to have a great nurse, Aimee Strickland. Thank you, Nurse Strickland for all that you do for our student patients and our district!

Each year the first full week in May is dedicated to the nation's teachers as National Teacher Appreciation Week. USD 447 is fortunate to have some of the most caring dedicated teachers in the business! This week when you see a teacher, thank them for their efforts with students and for helping to shape lives everyday. Thank you, teachers for all that you do to help shape the future!

The first Friday in May, schools across the nation celebrate National School Lunch Hero Day. USD 447 Cherryvale Thayer has the best food service staff in the land! In fact, it was recently reported by a student that they were "EXEMPLARY"! Thank you, ladies, for all that you do for our students and staff, to keep us healthy and well fed!

Every May 1st, schools across the nation celebrate National Schools Principal's Day. USD 447 Cherryvale Thayer is blessed to have some of the most dedicated, caring, and hardworking Principals in the business. Mr. Renfro, Mr. Knight, and Mr. Rehmert, thank you for all that you do for our students, staff, and patrons every day!

USD 447 is blessed with great support staff. A big part of that support comes from the administrative support staff that helps in all of our school offices every day! Thank you for the work that you do to help our students, staff, parents, and community! Happy Administrative Professionals Day!

USD 447 is blessed with a great library staff! They do great work with our students in helping kids develop a love of reading that will last a lifetime! Thank you for all you do!

Here's a big thank you to all USD 447 school bus drivers who transport kids to and from school and events safely each day throughout the year! Take time to thank a driver when you see them. Happy National School Bus Driver Appreciation Day!

Congratulations to the Thayer Flyers for winning both the boys and girls Mineral Belt League Basketball Championships after a great season!
